Library and Information Science Journal Editors’ Views on Query Letters

Query letters may offer an effective way to increase author engagement in the scholarly communication process, yet they are not a common practice library and information science (LIS). A survey interviews were conducted with LIS journal editors explore experiences, attitudes, opinions concerning query letters. Results indicate can be of great benefit both authors editors, if approached properly. Yet expressed varying levels enthusiasm offered some divergent opinions. Such editorial inconsistencies contribute authors’ uncertainty anxiety. Thus, this article concludes ideas for empowering improving editor-author communication.
